GTR launches Summer Sale with rail fares that are too hot to miss

  • Fares slashed across popular routes for limited time only
  • Sale ends at midnight on Monday 19 August

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), which operates Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express and Great Northern, is helping savvy parents save money on family trips with its big Summer Sale.

With the end of the school holidays approaching, cash conscious parents may be searching for days out that won’t break the bank. To inspire families to experience a day out by train, GTR has slashed the price of tens of thousands of tickets for popular journeys across its network.

The rail operator has introduced Promo Advance tickets, which gives customers significant savings on selected routes, with many tickets starting from as little as £5. Deals include London to Brighton, Brighton to Hastings and London to Arundel.

There are also excursions to try north of the river, with a trip to Cambridge costing just £7.50. Travellers can also visit Hitchin for £7, or Ely for only £8.50. Children’s tickets are available to buy as part of the Summer Sale, while under 5’s can travel for free.

To guarantee a bargain daytrip, customers have until midnight on Monday, 19 August to book their tickets in the Summer Sale. Tickets can be used for journeys between Tuesday, 20 August until Tuesday, 3 September.

GTR’s Customer Services Director, Jenny Saunders, said: “With the end of the school holidays fast approaching, we understand that it can be a struggle to keep kids entertained. With the sunny weather the UK is experiencing at the moment, it’s the perfect time to get out and explore destinations on your doorstep. Travelling by train is quick and easy for families and our Summer Sale will help to keep costs down, so don’t miss your chance to bag a bargain.”
