GO NORTH EAST BACKS GUIDE DOG TRAINING WITH FREE TRAVEL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Go North East is proud to announce a new partnership with Guide Dogs in Newcastle, offering free bus travel to volunteer puppy raisers who play a vital role in training the next generation of life-changing guide dogs. These volunteers can now travel for free across the Go North East network by presenting their Guide Dogs ID pass, allowing puppies to practice essential skills on public transport.

North East Mayor Kim McGuinness has brought together public transport operators to launch a region-wide Kids Go Free offer during school holidays.

Bus operator Go North East will now offer free travel for up to three children aged 11 and under, when travelling with an adult with a valid ticket or concessionary pass holder during school holidays over the next year.

Funded through the North East Combined Authority’s (NECA) Bus Service Improvement Plan, these enhancements, effective from Sunday, July 21, 2024, will boost connectivity, increase frequency, and provide more reliable services for customers.

Better bus fares launched across Gateshead borough and beyond to encourage more people to use clean and safe buses as the region recovers

Go North East has launched a new blanket fare offer for those travelling around Gateshead with a headline maximum single fare of just £1.70 for any journey, and other offers across the region, as part of its summer savings fares campaign.
It also hopes to extend them longer term if the take up is good enough and more people get on board the region’s buses.

There will be changes to some Go North East bus services from 26 January 2020. Big improvements to X-lines X21 with buses running every 15 minutes between Durham and Newcastle. A new 311 service will be introduced, running every 20 minutes between Hadrian Park, High Farm, Coast Road and Newcastle.
