Press release -

Royal London Group selects Fortrus Ltd to implement new Laserfiche ECM system within Bright Grey and Consumer Divisions.

2nd March 2015, London - Fortrus announces today that the Royal London Group’s protection insurance business, Bright Grey and Consumer division, have successfully completed a project to replace its Document Management System.

Part of the Royal London Group, the UK’s largest mutual life, investment and pensions company, Bright Grey was started in 2003. It is a specialist provider of life, critical illness and income protection insurance. Bright Grey sells its insurance products through a network of intermediaries (financial advisors) as well as via the internet and a 250 seat contact centre.

By 2012 the original document repository system was approaching end of life and the Bright Grey team required a new ECM solution. It needed be secure, reliable, offer comprehensive search capabilities, as well as scanning and indexing support for document capture.

A shortlist of candidate systems was created, with reference sites visited and a proof of concept exercise set. Working with Gartner one of the worlds best known IT analyst groups, Laserfiche Rio was finally identified as the preferred solution to meet the required needs of the group.

Fortrus was selected as an experienced partner to work with Royal London in the design, establishment of best practice patterns, delivery and technical support of Laserfiche Rio. To date over 14 million Bright Grey documents with all associated metadata have been migrated from the original legacy system to Rio, taking Fortrus only 2 weeks to complete the end-to-end migration.

Our competition often loose sight of the core aim of software – to serve the users. All too often we find ourselves using software that gives little, if any thought to the end user experience. Many of the solutions we are called in to replace, were created by teams of development professionals, whom after an initial briefing built and implemented their solution from the top down.

The disadvantage of this approach is that, without the continued engagement of the users throughout the design and development process, customers are left with software that is technically perfect, but practically useless. This is an expensive, demotivating and time-consuming mistake to make.

We adopt a user centric approach to the development of our solutions, where design runs parallel to development, not after. Based on years of experience in user engagement and the development of innovative technology, we have pioneered the Genius Design process to ensure that our software provides a seamless user experience.

The advantage of this approach is that it enables us to display more complex information more readily than through any other means. It empowers the user, providing them with access to huge amounts of data, but in an intuitive and effortless interface that just works, beautifully.
