Canon Launches The ScanFront 300 and 300P Network Document Scanners

The Canon imageFORMULA ScanFront range of network scanners have proved extremely popular since their release last year. Canon document scanners have been a particularly big hit with organisations looking for a fully integrated Document Management solution. They scan quickly and efficiently and have one of the most user-friendly interfaces of any scanner on the market. Last week, expanding the ScanFront offering from the existing 220 and 220P, Canon have released the ScanFront 300 and ScanFront 300P network scanners.

Network Document Scanners

Document scanners are taking strides forward in the networking department. Traditional network document scanning would have to take place using a computer as well as a SCSI document scanner or USB document scanner. The new Canon ScanFront 300 series of document scanners comes with eCOPY embedded, a network port for connectivity and a Duplex function providing double sided scanning functionality. This means you can scan documents directly from the unit to a designated network store without any additional software or hardware. With minimal configuration this network document scanner range from Canon can be plugged into your network and start performing instantly. With the additional security offered by the 300P version, corporate systems administrators can rest assured that documents are scanned securely and only authorised users can use the device to scan and retrieve documents.

The ScanFront 300 and 300P – Faster, More Robust Scanning

The first thing that should stand out on the new ScanFront 300 and 300P is the scanning speeds – these latest high speed document scanner models have increased scanning speeds up to 30 PPM in black and white and 25 ppm in colour. And with their incredibly robust paper handling, users are able to scan a very wide range of media types even in a single batch. So the new ScanFront models don’t only scan fast, they’re also able to handle pretty much whatever is thrown their way. Users spend less time scanning documents in and much less time sifting and sorting before scanning. Alloyed with the ultrasonic double feed detection sensor, scanning with the ScanFront 300 and 300P machines is an entirely hassle-free experience.

A Clearer, Smarter User Interface

The ScanFront 300 and 300P, like previous models in the imageFORMULA ScanFront series prioritise the user interface. The principle is that a clear, easy-to-use display minimizes the amount of time each user spends in front of the scanner and maximises the number of individuals within an organisation who can make use of scanning facilities. The 300 and 300P also come with a particularly eye-catching and ergonomic design, which has been designed to fit into retail spaces and reception areas where they can be on public view. While the new models have one of the smallest footprints in class, the large 8.4” intuitive colour touch-screen displays, enable users to navigate quickly and simply through the range of menu options and the personalised job buttons make more even quicker more precise job distribution.

Enhanced Connectivity and Security Options

The ScanFront 300 and 300P network scanners both offer a number of enhanced network scanning options capable of sharing files to a variety of locations – email, FTP, USB devices/hard drives, shared folders, fax scanners and printers. A straightforward web-browser platform provides system administrators with the ability to deploy, update, manage and restore multiple devices simply and easily and completely remotely too. The new ScanFront Administration tool enables multiple updates to be applied across a fleet of machines, in different locations, simultaneously, dramatically cutting IT department workloads.

In terms of security, there are great features too. On the standard imageFORMULA ScanFront 300 model, users log-in through a simple individual user authentication login, while the 300P provides highly sophisticated finger print swipe authentication, so there’s no room for any security lapses at all.

Other Features

Both the ScanFront 300 and 300P are Energy Star and RoHS compliant and incorporate a range of additional functions including auto colour detection, text orientation correction, folio mode and long document scanning mode at up to 1,000mm. With the added capability of sending meta-data along with each scan, information can be seamlessly classified and integrated into an organisation’s document management system, to distribute the information to where it’s most needed.

The imageFORMULA ScanFront 300 and 300P will begin shipping across Europe from August 2010.
