​England selectors name squad for second Specsavers Ashes Test match

  • Somerset’s Jack Leach recalled to the Test squad
  • Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali misses out on selection

England National Cricket Selectors have named a 12-strong squad for the 2nd Specsavers Ashes Test match against Australia at Lord’s starting on Wednesday, August 14.

England second Test squad versus Australia:

Joe Root (Yorkshire) captain

Jofra Archer (Sussex)

Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire)

Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire)

Rory Burns (Surrey)

Jos Buttler (Lancashire)

Sam Curran (Surrey)

Joe Denly (Kent)

Jack Leach (Somerset)

Jason Roy (Surrey)

Ben Stokes (Durham)

Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)

Somerset left-arm orthodox spinner Jack Leach returns to the squad in place of Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali. Leach, who was player of the match the last time England played at Lord’s in victory over Ireland last month, is set to add to his five Test caps.

James Anderson (right calf) and Olly Stone (back) miss out through injury. Both seamers were included in the squad for the first Test at Edgbaston.

The squad will report to London on Sunday.
