Cricket Discipline Commission, fixed penalty update

Below is a round-up of Fixed Penalty Directive breaches from June 9-28.

Steven Mullaney was reported by umpires Neil Bainton and Richard Illingworth during Nottinghamshire’s Specsavers County Championship match against Somerset on 9 – 12 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Richard Ellison, determined that Mullaney had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Morne Morkel was reported by umpires Billy Taylor and Neil Mallender during Surrey’s Specsavers County Championship match against Hampshire on 9 – 12 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Dean Cosker, determined that Morkel had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action/using language that in the circumstances, is obscene, offensive or insulting).

Hardus Viljoen was reported by umpires Peter Hartley and Tom Lungley during Derbyshire’s Specsavers County Championship match against Durham on 9 – 12 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Steve Davis, determined that Viljoen had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Sukhjit Singh was reported by umpires Tim Robinson and Neil Davies during Warwickshire’s Second XI Championship match against MCC Young Cricketers on 11 – 13 June 2018 for a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Tom Wells was reported by umpires Graham Lloyd and Paul Pollard during Leicestershire’s tourist match against India A on 19 June 2018 for a Level 1 breach of the Directives (bowling a dangerous or unfair short pitched delivery and/or accidental non-pitching delivery that results in the bowler being disallowed from bowling any further in that innings in accordance with Laws 41.6 and 41.7 and Specsavers County Championship Playing Conditions 41.3 and 41.4).

Will Davis was reported by umpires Andrew Lunn and Naeem Ashraf during Derbyshire’s Second XI friendly match against Glamorgan on 20 June 2018 for a Level 1 breach of the Directives (using language that, in the circumstances, is obscene, offensive or insulting).

Cameron Steel was reported by umpires Michael Burns and Yeshwant Barde during Durham’s Specsavers County Championship match against Sussex on 20 – 23 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Graham Cowdrey, determined that Steel had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (bowling a dangerous or unfair short pitched delivery and/or accidental non-pitching delivery that results in the bowler being disallowed from bowling any further in that innings in accordance with Laws 41.6 and 41.7 and Specsavers County Championship Playing Conditions 41.3 and 41.4).

Ben Raine was reported by umpires Graham Lloyd and Paul Pollard during Leicestershire’s Specsavers County Championship match against Middlesex on 20 – 23 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Stuart Cummings, determined that Raine had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Jade Dernbach was reported by umpires Peter Hartley and Paul Pollard during Surrey’s Specsavers County Championship match against Yorkshire on 25 - 28 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Wayne Noon, determined that Dernbach had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (using language that, in the circumstances, is obscene, offensive or insulting).

Mark Stoneman was reported during the same match. The CLO determined that Stoneman had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Richard Levi was reported by umpires Ben Debenham and Mike Burns during Northamptonshire’s Specsavers County Championship match against Glamorgan on 25 - 28 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Steve Davis, determined that Levi had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Michael Jones was reported by umpires Neil Pratt and Ian Warne during Durham’s Second XI Championship match against Derbyshire on 26 - 28 June 2018 for a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

The penalty for each of these offences is a reprimand.

These penalties will remain on their records for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.
