Consensus and cooperation make for a transport-smart Nordic region

A new Nordic council of ministers for transport issues, joint planning for an expanded double track line between Oslo and Gothenburg, and synchronisation of the national transport plans are some of the Nordic Council’s proposals for growth and development in the Nordic region.

Irene Johansen, senior adviser on communication at Bane NOR and a member of the programme council.

Nordic cooperation gives unique transport strategy advantages

Nordic cooperation means a lot for the strategic development of the infrastructure between the countries. Bane NOR, which is responsible for railway infrastructure in Norway, is involved as a partner in creating the Nordic region’s most important meeting place for the development of tomorrow’s transport and infrastructure: Elmia Nordic Future Transport Summit.

Elmia and Jönköping will host the Nordic region’s most important meeting place for tomorrow’s sustainable transport and infrastructure on 8–10 October 2019.

New meeting place for transport and infrastructure at Elmia

Next autumn is the premiere for Elmia’s new transport fair, Elmia Nordic Transport Infrastructure, which is being held in parallel with Elmia Nordic Rail. Together with the conference Elmia Nordic Future Transport Summit, the fairs form the Nordic region’s most important meeting place for the development of tomorrow’s transport and infrastructure on 8–10 October 2019

Tomorrow’s infrastructure in focus at Elmia

Sustainable transports, technological development and safety issues were the main themes at Elmia Future Transport, Elmia Nordic Rail and Elmia Nordic Road. With some 100 international exhibitors, the three fairs entrenched their position as the Nordic region’s largest and leading meeting place for transport and infrastructure.

Jonas Karlsson, Lennart Kalander, moderator Ulf Nyström, Karin Svensson-Smith, HG Wessberg, discussed why Sweden needs a high-speed rail line.

The high-speed line – a good start to many problems

Is building a high-speed rail line in Sweden the solution to every problem? That somewhat pointed question was discussed at the key seminar “High-speed railways – do they solve the problems?” The panel’s answer? They don’t solve everything but they help a lot.
