DJI Launches Privacy Mode for Drone Operators to Fly Without Internet Data Transfer
On October 2, 2017 DJI announced a new Local Data Mode that restricts internet traffic to and from its DJI Pilot app, in order to provide enhanced data privacy assurances for sensitive government and enterprise customers.
Local Data Mode will be available in the next update on the DJI Pilot app on CrystalSky and for select Android tablets. When an operator activates Local Data Mode, the app will stop sending or receiving any data over the internet. This adds an additional layer of security for operators of flights involving critical infrastructure, governmental projects or other sensitive missions.
Responding to Irma with Drones – Teamwork on the Frontlines with Aerial Technology
Humans and drones working together for the greater good of humanity – an increasing occurrence witnessed in today’s disaster recovery efforts. This year, hurricanes Harvey and Irma, presented another scenario where drones are being utilised to serve in disaster recovery efforts as useful recovery tools.
Determined to restore order on the ground, emergency management teams and first responders have been hard at work, utilising drones to give them an aerial perspective by capturing data and enabling key decision makers to take action. Leading the response is FLYMOTION, a drone company based in Tampa, Florida, providing end to end solutions, services and training. They have been actively involved, deploying 22 aircrews across Florida to speed up the restoration process after Hurricane Irma.
