DJI Helps to Protect Surfers and Swimmers with Aerial Technology

Shark attacks and rip currents are just two of the dangers faced by surfers and swimmers in the world’s more exoctic locations. To help tackle this issue DJI has recently started working with Surf Life Saving Central Coast (SLSCC) to integrate drones in search and rescue efforts and save lives on Australian beaches. DJI’s latest video demonstrates how drones can save lives, while preserving the eco-system.

“Historically when we see a shark, it is usually very close to shore and potentially swimmers, but having the drones gives us a new perspective that helps us make faster and smarter decisions,” said Brett Beswick, SLSCC Director of Lifesaving. “In the past we could close the beach for half an hour and not even know if the shark had left the area, but with the DJI drone technology we now have the ability to confirm the situation which is incredibly comforting for our lifesavers.”
