THE FLAMING SIDEBURNS: 90s High-Energy Rockers To Play London and Brighton - New LP and Tour Plans

It’s time to testify… again!

ADVANCE NO-FEE TICKETS

The Flaming Sideburns are returning to the UK in their original line-up for the first time since 2001. Helsinki’s finest garage rockers are about to play in London at The Dirty Water Club on 21 September and in Brighton at Stay Sick on 22 September.

You better prepare yourself for a full assault of early rock and roll, 60s punk and hi-octane Detroit rock… all this combined with Finnish madness and Latin American swagger!

Formed in 1995 The Flaming Sideburns took the world in the late 90s and early 00s touring everywhere from New York City to Moscow and from the Arctic Circle to the jungles of Brazil. They were among the forerunners of Scandinavian rock and roll boom with The Hives or The Hellacopters and have shared the stage with their greatest inspirations, such as The Sonics or The Stooges.

The original line-up recorded their most well-loved albums It’s Time to Testify (1998) and Hallelujah Rock’n’rollah (2001) before guitar player Jeffrey Lee Burns moved over to the U.S.A. in 2001. The band kept going in various line-ups and never quit but after a decade of only a handful gigs they are back for real.

Earlier this year the five original members — Argentine-born Eduardo Martinez (voc) and his Finnish associates Ski Williamson (gtr), Jeffrey Lee Lewis (gtr), The Punisher (bass) and Jay Burnside (drums) — got back together in their headquarters in Helsinki before heading for a tour in Spain. The test-run resulted raving reviews and the band is yearning for more now.

A new album, the first one since 2007, is under works but before that it’s time to testify, London and Brighton!

The Dirty Water Club started in October 1996 in the Tufnell Park neighbourhood of north London, at a venue called The Boston. The club's name is derived from The Standells' 1966 hit 'Dirty Water' which glorifies the US city of Boston, Massachusetts.

Past performers have included The White Stripes (voted by Q Magazine as one of the top 10 gigs of all time, Mojo one of the top 30 and Kerrang one of the top 100!), The Gories, Country Teasers, Black Lips, NOBUNNY, Kid Congo Powers, The Fleshtones, Billy Childish, Radio Birdman, The Dirtbombs, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, The 5.6.7.8's, The Horrors and The Brian Jonestown Massacre to name just a few. The club has also seen some original '60s performers, such as The Monks, ? and the Mysterians, Kim Fowley, Sky Saxon, GONN, Michael Davis of the MC5 and more grace its stage.

Their in-house record label, Dirty Water Records, is one of the leading garage/beat/(real) R&B labels in the world.
