SXSW 2024 Showcasing Artist, THE OXYS Ignite Austin with Four Hard-Hitting Dates

February 20th, 2024 (Austin, TX) — Sound the alarm; Austin’s commanding Punk n’ Roll ensemble The Oxys will shake globally-recognized music festival South by Southwest 2024 with four dates across the city’s downtown district. As the first time for this band to present itself at the event, The Oxys are making the most of the week by casting their net of raw, gritty, unbridled energy for unsuspecting local and international audiences.

Fresh off their two-week run in Spain, the band returns to their hometown to shock and awe, leaving only a trail of wide eyes and burst eardrums. Compared to the likes of The Damned, New York Dolls, Cheap Trick, The Weirdos, Alice Cooper, Johnny Thunders' The Heartbreakers, and the early work of The Replacements, The Oxys kick off their spread of wildfire at day one of Hotel Vegas’ annual “Spring Break Boogie” event on March 11th with A Giant Dog, Die Spitz, Urban Heat, Sextile and more. Subsequent dates include their SXSW Official Showcase at Low Down Lounge with Lord Friday the 13th (exclusive to festival badge and wristband holders), University of Texas area’s landmark venue Hole in the Wall for Chicken Ranch Records’ annual showcase and end their reign at High Noon for the inaugural “Cheap as Fuck Block Party.”

Brett Callwood of LA Weekly states, "The sound is wonderful — snotty and sleazy in all of the most delicious ways. Again, rock ‘n’ roll doesn’t need saving, but The Oxys are going to do it anyway." And Jersey Beat adds that “The Oxys bring a sleazy, gritty Lower East Side of the 1980s vibe to their brand of catchy punk.”

Led by the surly vocals of Phil Davis and the sweltering six-string sorcery of Jason “Ginchy” Kottwitz and rhythm guitarist Genocide, The Oxys are a five-piece punk powerhouse act set ablaze by the ear-splitting rhythm section of Gabriel Von Asher on bass and Chris Alaniz on drums (both of which played with Ginchy in Syvlain Sylvain and the Sylvains and Cheetah Chrome).
