CHICKEN SNAKE was founded in 2008 by Jerry Teel (Honeymoon Killers, Boss Hog, Chrome Cranks, Knoxville Girls, Jerry Teel & The Big City Stompers) and his wife and songwriting partner, Pauline Owens-Teel. (Jerry Teel & The Big City Stompers).

The band has included many musicians along the way, as The Teels have wandered through the big cities and waded through the backwoods swamps. Both Jerry and Pauline hail from the Deep South, making their visions and downhome magic a natural extension of their inner spirit and hell-raising storytelling.


On the hidden dirt path, their tales include ghosts and graveyards, the Devil and the Sacred Bleeding Heart of Jesus, Whiskey and Sin. On their latest release on Beast Records, Jerry and Pauline are joined by Marco Butcher (Jesus & the Groupies, Thee Butchers Orchestra, The Jam Messengers, etc) and Luis Tissot (Hugo Race and The Moses Complex, Thee Dirty Rats, Jesus & The Groupies, etc...). An unholy union sealed at the crossroads at midnight.

CHICKEN SNAKES sound is likened to old rusty train wheels, screeching down a lonesome track at midnight .. Or a Gris-Gris charm made of dirty swamp water, a pinch of graveyard dirt, a few bottles of Whisky & Gin, The Devil and Sin, stirred with a handful of rooster feathers - until mixed well.
