Press release -

UK landscaping services market to see revenues increase

The UK landscaping services market has been forecast to see revenues increase over the next five years, increasing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 0.9% to total £3.53 billion.

Future industry growth is expected to be steady as the UK economy improves, demand increases and outsourcing levels continue to drive new corporate growth.

The Landscape Services industry's revenue has fluctuated significantly over the past five years. The faltering economy and increasing outsourcing have contributed to mixed trends in industry revenue, which is estimated to grow at an annualised 2.4% in the five years through 2012-13.

Increased outsourcing among local authorities, businesses and households contributed to strong UK landscaping services industry growth in 2008-09 and 2009-10.

Larger firms in the industry provide a wide range of services to meet client needs. Landscape companies are offering more garden and landscape services, such as hard and soft landscaping, and more garden and growth maintenance services.

The largest landscaping service segment in the industry is garden maintenance, which is estimated to account for 30% of industry revenue in 2012-13. This service segment includes grass cutting, tree trimming, pruning, pest control, weeding, fertilising and other basic garden activities for private households, commercial premises, government institutions and local authorities.

Growth has been prominent in the segment over the past five years due to greater outsourcing by government departments and local authorities, and households engaging gardeners to carry out lawn and garden maintenance.
