Plans to transform Whitefield received a welcome boost when an expert from the Government’s High Streets Task Force delivered a workshop for senior council officers, businesses and community leaders in the town.
Plans to improve the town centre of Whitefield have taken another step forward as part of moves to ensure that all parts of the borough are regenerated.
Council leaders have chosen Whitefield to receive support from the national High Streets Task Force.
Bury Council consists of six towns, Bury, Ramsbottom, Tottington, Radcliffe, Whitefield and Prestwich. Formed in April 1974 as a result of Local Government re-organisation it was one of the ten original districts that formed the County of Greater Manchester. The Borough has an area of 9,919 hectares (24,511 acres) and serves a population of 187,500.
