MCM x EGX to host Major UK tournament for Bandai Namco’s TEKKEN 8 this October
Thursday, September 5, London: ReedPop are delighted to announce that Bandai Namco’s acclaimed release TEKKEN 8 will be taking to the EGX Arena in 2024, pitting the best of the best against each other in the UK’s first Major tournament for this title.
After the success TEKKEN 7 tournament in 2023, EGX Arena is back again in 2024 in collaboration with Bandai Namco, bringing with it a prize pool of £5,000 for competitors to battle over.
The tournament will be held from 26-27th October giving professional players plenty of time to practise their moves and combos, and go on to claim the title of champion fighter at EGX and MCM Comic Con. Potential competitors can register for the tournament HERE.
The tournament will be livestreamed on the EGX Arena Twitch channel, allowing fans of TEKKEN 8 to get involved with the excitement, share their favourite takedowns and be a part of the EGX community wherever they are in the world.
TEKKEN celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and the latest entry in the series delighted fans with a cast of iconic characters including Jin, King and Nina, as well as brand new fighters Azucena, Victor and Lidia. TEKKEN 8 wowed players and reviewers alike with an average Metacritic score of 90, so this household name is certain to get the EGX crowd going.
Taking place from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th October at ExCeL London, EGX is the UK’s biggest video game fan convention, where gamers from around the world come together to share their passion for gaming. For the first time, EGX is taking place alongside MCM Comic Con - bringing all the best parts of each event under one roof.
EGX 2024 will offer players the chance to play the upcoming releases, attend fascinating panels and talks from industry top professionals and discover hidden gems in the Rezzed Zone and The Leftfield Collection.
