MCM Comic Con Birmingham Takes Place This Week!

Monday 25 November 2024: MCM Comic Con Birmingham is taking place later this week, at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) from Friday 29th November to Sunday 1st December.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a variety of show zones, including several new zones. New to Birmingham this year is:

• Writers Block
  • Writers Block will be coming to MCM Birmingham for the first time this week. The one-stop shop for everything brilliantly bookish, Writers Block will feature a curated selection of independent author tables.
• The Hangout
  • Take a break from the show floor for crafting and bookish fan-meets in The Hangout at Writers Block. Activities will be taking place on all three days, including Bob Ross Paint Along and a range of crafty activities, such as bookmark making and cross stitch.
• The Forest Glade
  • The Forest Glade is a mystical and immersive LARP area nestled within the heart of the convention. Activities will be taking place throughout the weekend, including sword fighting tutorials and showcases by the team at Silver Sabers Combat Academy.

Additionally, fan-favourite locations such as Pop Asia, Cosplay Central and Artist Alley will be returning.

MCM Comic Con will be welcoming a wide range of exciting guests, such as:

• Luke Evans* (The Hobbit / Beauty and the Beast)
  • Luke will be joining us to celebrate the release of his memoir ‘Boy From the Valleys: My Unexpected Journey’. Luke is best known for his roles as Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit, Gaston in Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast and Dracula in Dracula Untold.
  • Luke will only be signing copies of his 'Boy From The Valleys' book - these can be bought on site or attendees can bring a copy of their own. He will not be taking part in additional signings or meet and greets on the day.
• Chris Judge (God of War)
  • Chris is beloved for his portrayal of the gruff Spartan warrior, Kratos, in God of War from 2018 onwards. Additionally, Chris will be recognised as the Jaffa warrior Teal’c, from the classic sci-fi series, Stargate SG1.
• Laurence Rickard (Ghosts)
  • Laurence is most recently known for co-writing and starring in BBC’s Ghosts, as the considerate and level-headed caveman Robin. He will also be recognised for his roles in Horrible Histories, Yonderland and Bill.
• Ben Willbond (Ghosts)
  • Ben co-wrote Ghosts, and starred as the determined and uptight Captain. He can also be recognised for his roles in Horrible Histories, Yonderland and Bill.

There will be many exciting guest panels taking place this weekend, including:

• Daisuke Tsuji, Friday 2:20pm @ Live Stage
  • From Ghost of Tsushima to Mortal Kombat 1, Call of Duty and Death Stranding, Daisuke Tsuji joins us on the Live Stage for a spotlight on his career and to answer fan questions.
• In Conversation with Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond, Saturday 10:45am @ Main Stage
  • Go behind the scenes of fan favourites Ghosts, Horrible Histories, Yonderland and more with Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond on the Main Stage.
• God of War Cast, Saturday 3:15pm @ Main Stage
  • Hear from the voices behind Midgard with Chris Judge, Sunny Suljic, Danielle Bisutti and Alastair Duncan on the Main Stage!
• Wuthering Waves, Saturday 4:15pm @ Live Stage
  • Calling all Wuthering Waves fans! Join Shai Matheson (Scar) and Alex Jordan (Jiyan) on the Live Stage to answer your burning questions on the action-packed RPG and know all about voice acting, quests and lore.
• Baldur’s Gate 3 Reunion, Sunday 11:45am @ Main Stage
  • Join Samantha Béart, Dave Jones, Andrew Wincott, Emma Gregory and Neil Roberts on the Main Stage in Birmingham as they go behind the scenes of Baldur's Gate
