Hardball Games Unveils Multiplayer Beat-Em-Up Brawler OutRage for PC, Consoles & Mobile

Fun-Packed, Smash, Grab, Kick And Punch-Em-Up Set In Fully Destructible Environments, Enables Players To Destroy Scenery & Their Enemies In Frenetic Short Sessions

Brighton, 23 August 2023 - Brighton-based developer Hardball Games is proud to announce OutRage, a brand-new multiplayer beat-em-up brawler coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android next year.

Revealed at gamescom today and launching into early access on PC in Spring 2024, the game brings bite-size, old school, fighting action to a new generation of PC players before becoming available on consoles and mobile devices at full launch.

OutRage sees up-to 32 players take part in street-ragin brawls in which they can use not only themselves to take on their opponents, but destructible levels, vehicles and street furniture to do damage too.

Across multiple team-based, free-for-all and battle royale inspired modes, players earn ‘Rage’ through the game’s Rage system, allowing them ‘Rage Up’ to grow bigger, hit harder and throw bigger in short and chaotic sessions.

“At Hardball Games we love playing team-based games together but don’t always have the time to invest weeks or months mastering a new game. We wanted to create something that anyone could pick up and play with their friends but had a reward system and progression for players that wanted to put in the extra time,” said Jason Avent, Studio Head at Hardball Games. “So with OutRage we’ve been really creative in the ways we’re dialling up the fun and making the game accessible.”

Taking place in a near-future alternative reality, OutRage centres on an underground fighting competition that becomes a break-out success when a wellness product with unintended ‘Rage’ enhancing side effects, super-charges the action.

OutRage street-fighters seek a competitive advantage with this product, using it to transform into hulking superhuman giants through combat, giving them the tools to win big but putting targets on their backs in the process.

As players enter the fray they’ll need to make the most of fully-destructible environments but be wary of traps and hazards including; spike pits, falling ceilings and ledges. Deciding whether to get stuck in straight away, help a friend or hang back and assess the battlefield will be essential for many as they learn to master combos and counters.

Game modes include Domination, in which teams compete to control areas of the map, Survival, a series of three minute battle royale rounds and Rage Bank, in which players deposit their built up rage to push their teams to victory.

Pain Points, a free-for-all mode played solo or in teams in which players battle for points and a high scoring win, and Crate Grab, which brings in classic capture-the-flag elements are two more of the many new and classic modes which Hardball Games will bring to OutRage player along with a steady pipeline of new maps, modes, cosmetics, weapons and much, much more.
