Exploring Advancements in the Media and Entertainment Industry with Jamie Adkin, VP EMEA at Adder
At Adder, we are committed to staying ahead of the curve when it comes to technological advancements in the world of media and entertainment - continually developing our products to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
InBroadcast’s Ashley Blankenship met with Jamie Adkin, VP EMEA at Adder, to find out more about what we have been up to over the past few months, and to get a sneak peek into what might be to come. Check out the video below, but if you are short for time, here is a quick summary of the conversation.
Q: Can you tell me how Adder fits in right now in the media and broadcasting industry?
Jamie Adkin: "Of course! As a KVM specialist, we offer the complete portfolio for organizations operating in the media and entertainment space. Our solutions are being used in radio studios, live TV broadcasting, control rooms, MCRs, and then right through to the highest level of post-production and color grading. We're providing solutions for every aspect of the media and entertainment industry."
Q: What trends are you seeing right now as far as technology in the media and broadcasting industry?
Jamie Adkin: "We see our customers in the industry going through an evolution of technology and we are working hard to support it. This year, we have been talking to many customers about remote access technologies and the adoption of HDR content in both the studio and edit suite. The adoption of virtualization and how it fits with KVM infrastructure has also been a hot topic. With our ADDERLink® INFINITY 3000 (ALIF3000) product, customers can access both their physical and virtual sources from a single desktop."
Q: Can you tell us more about what is new?
Jamie Adkin: "Over the past few months, we have introduced a whole range of new features to the ADDERLink INFINITY range. We have introduced support for new VDI protocols, such as HTML5, VNC, SSH and RDP, on the ALIF3000 and we have introduced two new models to the ADDERLink INFINITY 1000 series. Designed based on user feedback, the ADDERLink INFINITY 1102 (DP) transmitter and receiver, and ADDERLink INFINTY 1104 (HDMI) transmitter address key customer requirements where only single-head KVM is needed to meet demand.”
Q: Can you tell me a little bit more about the ADDERLink INFINITY 1102 model? What are the highlights?
Jamie Adkin: "This is our brand new Display Port single-head model. Single-head KVMs are at the core of everything we do. We're bringing display port technology and supporting dual-link resolutions. Additionally, we're introducing high-speed USB capability with true emulation technology, all in a new, smaller form factor - making it easier for customers to adopt and build out these core systems in their infrastructure."
Q: Who would you say you're targeting with your new products and practices?
Jamie Adkin: "This particular product is ideal for a whole portfolio of applications. From outside broadcast trucks, where form-factor is critical, to TV and radio galleries that benefit from fast switching and ease of access. This would also be the perfect solution for customers with a need for simple, straightforward KVM solutions such as some post-production customers. The advantage for customers is that they can adopt all these different KVM products from Adder and build out one interconnected system."
Q: What would you say we could expect from Adder Technology in the near future?
Jamie Adkin: "As we look forward, we are focused on supporting the platforms that customers are using, particularly in virtualization. We will be introducing new features, especially for command and control - applicable not just in radio but also in TV broadcast control rooms and outside broadcast environments.
You heard it straight from the horses (well, Jamie’s) mouth! Our solutions address the ever evolving needs of those working in media and entertainment environments.
We are proud to announce that our ADDERLink INFINITY 3000 received the IBC Best of Show 2023 award, recognizing its exceptional innovation and impact in the industry. Read our blog for all the details.
