New TUI Mein Schiff 2 setting course for discovery

TUI Cruises is growing, the new Mein Schiff 2 is the sixth newbuild of the fleet! New Mein Schiff 2 was christened in Lisbon by her godmother Carolin Niemczyk, a German pop singer in the band Glasperlenspiel who also performed during the evening for 2 800 guests on board.

During the ceremony the ship moved from the dock to Ponte de 25 Abril on the Tago, where all could see Lisbon and Cristo Rei with impressive fireworks behind the bridge. The ceremony was held in the main pool which is one of the areas that TDoS designed.

Under the motto “Setting course for discovery”, the guests on board the ship were invited to explore new horizons by a descendant of the legendary Portuguese seafarer Magellan during the christening ceremony. “Lisbon is the city of explorers – from here, they departed for their expeditions into an unknown world. We, too, encourage our guests to explore new horizons with us,” said Wybcke Meier, CEO TUI Cruises.
