Swedfund Appoints Anders Craft Acting Managing Director

Anders Craft has been appointed Acting Managing Director at Swedfund International AB. Anders joined Swedfund in 2004 from 3i Nordic plc and for the past two years has been director of Swedfund’s investment operations and investment portfolio. Anders brings to the role both a strong institutional knowledge of Swedfund as well as long experience in international investment.

Whilst Anders replaces Björn Blomberg, who resigned in 2011, the search for a permanent Managing Director continues. Swedfund’s Board believes that a new appointment will be made in the coming months. Over the course of Björn Blomberg’s leadership Swedfund continued to develop and expand: The number of staff increased from 20 to 38 people, a satellite office in Kenya was opened and the rate of investment in businesses increased to an average of 697 million SEK per year. Today, Swedfund’s total assets are valued at 3.5 billion SEK.

Crucially, change and expansion also led to greater development impacts in investee countries and Swedfund has placed an increasing emphasis on quantifying and monitoring its development impacts.
