Addax Bioenergy becomes UN’s first Clean Development Mechanism project in Sierra Leone

Addax Bioenergy has become the first in Sierra Leone to be registered as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It is also the first sugarcane-based power generation project for ethanol production to be registered as a CDM project in Africa.

“This achievement underlines the pioneering nature of our project and our ambition to set a benchmark for sustainable bioenergy investment in Africa”, commented Simon Cleasby, CEO of Addax Bioenergy. “Electricity is essential for development and we are proud to provide a significant renewable supply in Sierra Leone.
