Swedese launches Luna sideboard
Swedese is now launching the Luna sideboard, a new addition to the stylish furniture family that also includes the home office favorite: the Luna desk.
The versatile Luna desk is now joined by a sideboard where the same round, soft shapes meet smart functionality. The design duo Broberg & Ridderstråle were, somewhat unexpectedly, inspired by a grand piano when they created this elegant furniture collection.
– A grand piano is certainly a large and grand piece, but it has very beautiful flowing forms. We wanted to create a desk and sideboard that stand out with rounded and soft shapes, while still being simple, expressive, and distinct, says Johan Ridderstråle.
Luna is made of veneered molded oak. With the sweeping edge all around and the rounded drawer front, Luna is beautiful from every angle.
– The idea was to create a piece of furniture that doesn't need to be pushed against a wall; it should be able to stand freely in a room and be just as beautiful from the front as from the back. This was something we placed a lot of emphasis on, and I think we succeeded well. It feels like Luna takes its place in the room and feels natural with its flowing forms, says Mats Broberg.
The desk and sideboard are available in two color options: a light version with white-pigmented oak and legs in Nutmeg, RAL 1019, and a darker version with legs and wood parts in Hurricane Gray, RAL 7022.
Mats Broberg was born in 1974, and Johan Ridderstråle in 1979. They met during their studies at Konstfack in 2001 and have been a design duo ever since. Broberg & Ridderstråle are represented in the collections of the National Museum and have received awards from the British magazine Wallpaper and Sweden's Elle Decoration. For Swedese, they have designed Divido, Kite, Stella, and Luna.
