During April, about 3,241,000passengers flew to or from Swedavia’s ten airports, which corresponds to a decrease of 7 per cent compared to the same month last year. A number of one-time factors had a negative impact on the air travel development, including industrial strike actions at the end of the month.
The number of international passengers at Swedavia’s airports decreased 3 per cent to about 2,235,000 in April, while the number of domestic passengers totalled about 1,006,000, which was a decrease of 15 per cent compared to the same month last year.
One-time factors such as Easter falling in April compared to March last year had a negative effect on especially domestic air travel. A one-week industrial strike at the end of the month also had a clearly negative effect.
During April, about 1,659,000 international passengers flew to or from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, a decrease of 6 per cent compared to the same month last year. The number of domestic passengers decreased 19 per cent to nearly 379,000 passengers.

The number of domestic passengers was nearly 98,000, which corresponds to a decrease of 22 per cent compared to the same month last year. At Bromma Stockholm Airport, the number of international passengers increased 19 per cent to nearly 35,000, which domestic travel decreased 4 per cent to nearly 179,000 passengers.
So far this year, 25 new routes have been launched at Swedavia’s airports. All new routes except of one are international routes.
For many years, Swedavia has carried out ambitious sustainability work. All ten of Swedavia’s airports shall have zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the transition to biofuel and has the target that five per cent of all jet fuel used at Swedish airports is to be fossil-free by 2025. Since 2016, Swedavia buys biofuel equivalent to the amount used on the company’s flights for business purposes, about 450 tonnes a year.
