Press release -

More organic and local food options at Stockholm Arlanda and the new Marketplace

The new Stockholm Arlanda Airport is taking shape. A number of shops and restaurants will be ready to open early next summer, when the first part of the new Marketplace will be completed, together with a new security checkpoint. Arrangements have just been finalised for some additions to the new range of food options recently announced, including organic homemade ice cream and authentic flavours from our Nordic cuisine, French pâtisseries and Asian kitchens.

Progress at the new Stockholm Arlanda continues. In Terminal 5, a new security checkpoint is being built with state-of-the-art technology that will make screening easier for passengers. Immediately adjacent to the checkpoint is the location of the new Marketplace, the biggest commercial investment ever at Arlanda. The Marketplace will feature Nordic design and have commercial space covering a total of 11,000 square metres. The first of three phases will open in the summer of 2023, and the entire Marketplace will be completed in late 2024/early 2025.

People’s food experience at the airport has a major impact on the overall passenger experience. So more premises will be provided in the Marketplace for restaurants and bars and will be adapted to the passengers of tomorrow, with a focus on a broad range of services that will fit everyone’s budget, healthier food and food with a clear local connection. An agreement has now been signed with RC Café & Pâtisserie, which will open a number of exciting new outlets at Arlanda.

“Passengers should be able to easily take advantage of a wide variety of food options, with flavours from different parts of the world or more specifically from the Nordic region. This range of options will satisfy all the different kinds of needs that travellers can conceivably have, no matter the time of day. With RC’s concept, we get a lot of the local, authentic food connections that we’re looking for,” says Charlotte Ljunggren, Chief Commercial Officer at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

RC Café & Pâtisserie has operated at Arlanda since 2013 and today has two cafés in Terminal 5. In December, it will open a third café, also situated in Terminal 5. In 2023-24, RC will open five new outlets, four of these in the Terminal 5 Marketplace.

“Our objective is to create added value at the airport, where we want to offer a unique taste experience, with efficient and personal service for everyone on the move. RC will be a natural, good meeting place for all passengers at Arlanda. Guests will be able to enjoy everything from organic coffee, a freshly baked croissant, hearty baguette, fresh salad and sushi for take away to a hot meal for the whole family. We are really excited about the new openings and look forward to meeting every traveller at our fantastic workplace at Arlanda,” says Charlotta Söör, founder and co-owner of RC Café & Pâtisserie.

RC Café & Pâtisserie is a family-owned business that was started in 2002 in nearby Sigtuna by Charlotta Söör and Ronny Latva. The company is still run as a family business, and twin brothers Joakim and Niklas Blomquist have owned half of the firm since 2015.
