The Croatian national carrier has announced that they will expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport with a new, direct route to Zagreb. Croatia Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, will operate the new route three times a week, further connecting the Swedish capital with Croatia ahead of summer 2024.

Croatia Airlines continues their expansion in Sweden and at Swedavia’s Stockholm Arlanda Airport by adding the new destination of Zagreb. The new route to the capital of Croatia will be a welcome addition to Arlanda’s overall range of destinations and furthermore strengthen the connectivity to the country from Stockholm.

- I’m delighted that Croatia Airlines is expanding at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Swedavias main goal is to increase the connectivity and facilitate for people to meet, whether it is for business, leisure or to visit family and friends and Croatia Airlines is an important part of this, says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia. Croatia is a very popular destination for many reasons, and we are happy to add Zagreb to the overall offer from our airport, says she.

-I believe that many Swedes will make use of the fastest transport connection with Croatia, and that our flights on the Stockholm - Zagreb route will provide an added incentive for them to explore the natural, historical, and cultural attractions of Croatia. In order to make our new service available to as many passengers as possible, we will be offering return air tickets at promotional prices, says Mr Slaven Žabo, Commercial Division Director at Croatia Airlines.

Starting on the 20th of May, the route Stockholm Arlanda Airport – Zagreb (ZAG) will be operated three times a week, with a A319 aircraft.

Swedavia's work towards fossil-free aviation

Swedavia has carried out ambitious sustainability work for many years. All ten of its airports achieved the goal of zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by year-end 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the switch to sustainable aviation fuel and has the goal that five per cent of all fuel used for refuelling at Swedish airports shall be fossil-free by 2025. Swedavia’s climate transition work and pioneering work to operate climate-smart airports have won international awards, and in 2021 the trade organisation Airports Council International (ACI) named Stockholm Arlanda Airport Eco-Innovation Airport of the Year. Swedavia offers all travellers flying from one of its airports the option of buying biofuel for their entire journey or parts of it via flygreenfund.se/swedavia.
