Billion kronor investment launched at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

Swedavia is now launching a major investment at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Over three years, a billion Swedish kronor is planned be invested in measures to increase capacity and enhance quality. The objective is to create a more welcoming airport that places an even clearer focus on passengers. First off is Terminal 2.

StockholmArlandaAirportis the major airport in Scandinaviathat has the greatest growth in passenger numbers. Each year, some 18 million passengers fly to or from the airport.

To ensure efficiency, customer value and competitiveness over the coming years as well, Swedavia is now undertaking a major investment at the airport.

“StockholmArlandaAirportis to some extent Sweden’s window on the world. Swedavia is now starting up a number of infrastructure projects that involve all parts of the airport. It is important for us that these improvements are carried out in dialogue with our customers, to ensure that we will be a better business partner and create a better experience for passengers. The investment is a milestone in the development of the airport and clearly demonstrates our goal to increase customer value for passengers, airlines and shop owners,” says Torborg Chetkovich, CEO of Swedavia.

The first phase in this long-term project is the refurbishment of Terminal 2, where Swedavia is investing in speedy flows for passengers. Some2,000 square metresof new space is being added in order to handle all types of international traffic in a more flexible manner. The space will also offer an expanded range of shops, restaurants and services along with a brand-new lounge.

In addition, Swedavia plans to invest in the following improvements over the next three years:

Improved range of services for passengers with a new plaza that offers a selection of restaurants and shops as well as a more centrally located security checkpoint that allows for speedier passenger flows.

Simplified check-in through a greater range of options for passengers.

Existing space will be modernised to simplify travel and create room for future services for both passengers and airlines as well as create a more welcoming atmosphere.

Simplified transfer between domestic and international traffic.

Swedavia is also building a four-star hotel that will be operated by Clarion Hotels. The objective is to createScandinavia’s most modern and passenger-friendly meeting place and airport.
