Press release -

G-Loot secures investment of half a billion SEK—one of the largest esports fundraises globally.

Now the Swedish start-up is getting ready to expand its service across gaming platforms and create a strong, global brand.

  • The G-Loot PC app lets users improve their skills and win money playing top titles such as Valorant, Apex Legends, and Hearthstone.
  • "...we want esports to be available to any gamer, in any game, on any device, anywhere" - CEO Patrik Nybladh

Swedish start-up G-Loot has secured one of 2020’s biggest esports platform investments of 500 million SEK (approximately $56M). Now the company is focusing on growing its global player base and expanding across gaming platforms.

“We’re very excited to be taking this next step,” commented Patrik Nybladh, G-Loot’s CEO. “In the coming months we’ll be focussing on growing our player base, optimizing our service, and securing G-Loot as a strong and reliable brand in North America and worldwide. Work has already begun on expanding to new platforms which brings us closer to our mission of bringing an extra layer of excitement to every gaming experience. In the future, we want esports to be available to any gamer, in any game, on any device, anywhere."

With the latest funding, this future may not be so far away. G-Loot’s technology means that its PC client doesn’t need to be directly integrated with the games it supports. G-Loot’s service could be available for new titles just weeks after they are launched, instead of the years required for publishers to develop APIs.

For the past seven years G-Loot has been shifting esports away from big events reserved for the top 2% of players and to create something more democratic and inclusive. G-Loot’s PC client breaks the traditional tournament mold by offering skill-based challenges and community competitions that are open to anyone, without the need for qualifiers or shared servers. G-Loot players can win prize money by competing to get the most points in skill-based challenges or achieving a set goal.

Similar platforms exist for casual mobile games such as solitaire and various puzzle games. G-Loot stands out by offering AAA titles like Apex Legends, Hearthstone, and Riot's new title for 2020, Valorant. This combination of broad appeal and high-quality games has allowed the G-Loot platform to see significant growth this year. Now G-Loot is getting ready to use this new funding to offer its gaming experience to an even broader audience.

G-Loot is also behind the well-known tournament organizer GLL. GLL has been helping more and more tournaments take place online, opening them up to international players who may not otherwise be able to compete. “During this year, we have hosted continuous tournaments and leagues in partnership with EA and PUBG Corp for Apex Legends and PUBG. With our expertise and G-Loot tech, we are going to expand our partnerships with game publishers to host more online tournaments for gamers and content creators.” said VP and Head of Esports, Simon Sundén
