Stockholm signs on the leading International Liver Congress
For the first time, the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) has chosen to hold the International Liver Congress in Stockholm at Stockholmsmässan in spring 2017. It has also been determined that the congress will return in 2021, and that Stockholm will be one the three cities among which the congress will rotate.

EASL's selection of Stockholm is important for both research and the business community. Serving as an excellent host will help attract more visitors to Stockholm," says Sten Nordin, (M), Mayor of Stockholm and Chairman of Stockholmsmässan.
Stockholm won the congress in an intense competition that included other European cities. The decision was motivated by Stockholmsmässan's lengthy experience organizing international congresses, the flexibility of the venue as well as a strong, convincing proposal.
"The fact that even one of the biggest international congresses wants to host their event with us is truly gratifying, and earns great marks for Stockholmsmässan. We look forward to collaborating with EASL for these upcoming congresses, and we'll do our absolute best to ensure the participants and organizers have an outstanding experience during their visit to Stockholm," says CEO of Stockholmsmässan Patric Sjöberg.
Facts:
The International Liver CongressTM will be held April 26-30, 2017, and April 21-25, 2021. In total, the congress is expected to attract up to 10,000 participants to Stockholm and Stockholmsmässan per year. Both congresses are expected to result in sales of SEK 260 million in Stockholm in the form of travel, shopping, hotel nights and restaurant visits.
