Nordbygg 2020 revives a new Innovation arena

With a little over six months until Nordbygg 2020, the preparations for the most important fair for the construction and housing industry are well under way. The program is continuously expanded and the exhibition area is 93 per cent booked.

After the very successful fair of 2018, the demands are high and the project management group are working hard to repeat it.

– Our ambition is that both exhibitors and visitors in 2020 will be at least as positive to Nordbygg as last time, says Peter Söderberg, Project Manager at Nordbygg.

Some features he wants to highlight are rethinking architecture, new innovative construction products and start-ups with new solutions for the construction industry. All of them are examples of what will fill the Innovation arena, a revival where Nordic ConTech will also contribute a highly interesting program of their own.

– We are also happy that the international interest in the fair steadily has grown, both from exhibitors and visitors. All of six national stands will greet the visitors this time, says Peter Söderberg.

Group exhibitors

Two loyal exhibitors who are returning are Armatec, specialists within flow technology, and Husqvarna. Both see Nordbygg as a central building block in their market mix. The last time they participated, both Armatec and Husqvarna chose to have a group perspective on their participation, which meant that they focused on offering the visitors a complete group range.The experiences then were so good that they will return with the full force of the groups for Nordbygg 2020 as well. In this way, they want to make it easier for visitors to get a full view of products, solutions and services.

Launching an Innovation arena

The new technology is no fad. It is here to stay, and this will be noticed at Nordbygg. Nordbygg 2018 invested in inspiration, with new technical and digital solutions for the construction and housing industry. This feature will now be amplified with the launch of an Innovation arena. A heavy player in this context is the industry’s innovation platform, Nordic ConTech, which was widely launched at Nordbygg two years ago. The reactions then were mainly of curiosity, but also of scepticism. But a lot has happened since then. Above all, the awareness and the knowledge have increased. This will be brought forward among others by participating Tech companies. They will give examples of technical solutions and how they may be used.

– An interesting question now is when we will reach the so called tipping point. That is, the time when the industry switches to actually working according to digital models to a higher extent, says Erik Kalmaru at Svensk Byggtjänst, one of the initiators of Nordic ConTech.
