Interior design trends, global launch of a new color brand, design talents of the future and magic meetings – this is what we can expect from Formex August

Tuesday, August 22nd marks the opening of the autumn's grand interior design event, Formex, at Stockholmsmässan. The theme for this autumn is "Link Together”, which describes our present time, emphasizing collaboration, networking, community and the realization that each of us is a link within a smaller or larger context. Here are five highlights.

Speaker program filled with trends, inspiration and knowledge
At Formex's stage, there's an extensive program of speakers. Gain inspiration and knowledge from renowned architect Gert Wingårdh, journalist and presenter Hanna Hellquist, business strategist Hildur Blad, the duo behind Villa Sundahl Garden, Niclas Steeve and Svante Öquist, presenter, blogger, and vintage enthusiast Elsa Billgren, freelance journalist and sustainability lecturer Maria Soxbo, and technology and consumer expert Evelina Galli, among others. Explore the entire program here.

CANCAN x Formex
During Formex, the color brand CANCAN Colors is being launched. This new initiative aims to enrich the color industry and inspire greater creative freedom in a new era. CANCAN is the result of an effort within the leading Nordic color trade, Colorama, where numerous individuals with unique experiences and expertise came together to reshape the color industry. Under the leadership of Kim Öijerstedt Ander and Oskar Klingberg, both with backgrounds in branding, CANCAN has been born – a brand that will set a new standard. Formex’s visitors will be the first to explore CANCAN's 66 hues and learn about each color's fascinating story through a unique and spectacular exhibition.

Design Talents
Design Talents is a part of Formex's mentorship program for new talents. This year, 22 designers have been selected to showcase their innovative design solutions and products. The Design Talent’s area is visually appealing and distinct from other booths in the hall. Visitors will encounter innovative and imaginative design talents presenting a range of items, from textile wall hangings, creative puzzles, and artistic fixtures to unique jewelry and glass. Learn more about this year's Design Talents here.

Exhibitions focusing on encounters, trends, and vintage
Visitors will be greeted by the main exhibition, "Meeting Magic," at the entrance square, created by interior designer Lena Nyholm. It features three specially set environments and three ways to engage all senses, based on Formex's trend forecast for autumn 2023 and the exhibitors' own products. The exhibition is a dynamic space where continuous activities will take place.

Adjacent to the stage in hall C is the Formex trend exhibition for AW 23/24. Curated by stylist Jan Rundgren, who will also give a talk on the trends.

New this year, Brandstationen and Vaner Atelier have each created separate exhibitions with furniture, items, and decor featuring timeless vintage pieces. Visitors can be inspired by the blend of new and old items that evoke emotions and create a personal environment.

Focus on experience and knowledge
The August edition of Formex places a clear focus on experience and knowledge sharing. Visitors can enjoy champagne in the champagne bar with music by DJ Eric, get a manicure or massage in the Formex Relax area, or take a break from the fair with shuffleboard and ping pong in the new "playground" for offices. Throughout the days, there's an opportunity to join two of Sweden's leading trend experts, Stefan Nilsson and Frida Ramstedt, on a tour through this year's colors, items, and loads of inspiration. The pop-up shop also expands its offerings this year with a book and magazine section, and each day visitors can participate in workshops and gain knowledge with a focus on sustainability and craftsmanship.
