Press release -

Dennis Valencia creates for Formex – "An exhibition with layers of eras living simultaneously and in harmony"

When Formex, the Nordic region's most important meeting place for interior design, open in January 2024, the theme will be Generation Love. The theme will be brought to life by interior stylist Dennis Valencia through Formex main exhibition at the entrance square. Formex will be held at Stockholmsmässan January 16-18, 2024.

Formex is the meeting place for interior design. National and international buyers, agents, wholesalers, importers, designers, producers, and media have been gathering here since 1960. The autumn theme "Link Together" represented collaboration, networking, cross-border meetings, and the idea that everyone is a link in different chain configurations. The Formex project team now wants to take a step further with the January theme, Generation Love.

-The concept of 'Generation Love' can be expressed in many ways, and we want exhibitors, visitors, and creators to interpret it in their own ways. It could, for example, mean meetings between young talents and veterans, vintage and new trends, or that the analog meeting the digital, says Sonja Björk Ebert.

Dennis Valencia is entrusted with creating Formex main exhibition
Over the years, Formex has presented several exciting themes and, in turn, a variety of creators who have had the prestigious task of interpreting the theme through Formex main exhibition. The creator for Formex main exhibition in Januari 2024 is the interior stylist Dennis Valencia. Dennis has been working as an interior stylist since 2009 and has a wide range of projects in his portfolio. But his interest in interior design started long before 2009.

-I vividly remember a memory from when I was five years old. My family and I were at a castle in Sweden. It had a grand entrance hall, high ceilings, dark wooden panels, and a fantastic carpet. I also remember the shop windows at Nordiska Kompaniet, NK, in Gothenburg, where I grew up, says Dennis Valencia.

Dennis has previously primarily worked on advertising and editorial projects, meaning creating environments to be photographed. Interpreting the January theme Generation Love and thus creating Formex main exhibition at the entrance square will be Dennis's most significant public assignment to date.

-I like the idea of the analog world meeting the digital one. It feels exciting. But also, how generations and worlds, in general, meet, and how trends run parallel to each other. I want visitors to experience an entrance square exhibition with layers of eras living simultaneously and in harmony. Past, present, and what we believe and hope will be our future, says Dennis Valencia.
