Press release -
This Year’s Theme Announced for the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race 2025!
The new theme for the innovation contest, which last year engaged over 150 primary school classes from across Sweden, has now been determined. A theme centred around the transportation of people and objects: how they get from one place to another and back again.
Throughout history, we have always needed to transport people and goods, sometimes over short distances, sometimes across entire continents. Transport solutions have continuously evolved to make journeys faster, smoother, and safer, but many challenges remain.
This year’s theme encourages the experts of tomorrow to rethink travel and transportation. How can we simplify everyday journeys to school or work? Can long-distance travel become more enjoyable? Can it be made safer? How can we improve the delivery of packages, food, and goods? And what happens when we need to travel across difficult terrains, through deserts, over polar ice, or deep into the jungle?
Transport and travel are a central part of our daily lives and a crucial factor in societal development. With growing cities, climate challenges, and an increasingly globalised world, the demand for new, smart, and sustainable transport solutions is greater than ever. By allowing young people to explore these challenges, they get a chance to think creatively, test ideas, and develop innovations that can make a real difference. Whether it’s reducing traffic congestion, creating energy-efficient vehicles, or finding ways to travel where infrastructure is limited, this year’s theme gives participants the opportunity to shape the future of transportation.
“Last year’s entries demonstrated impressive creativity, and we are excited to see how young innovators will tackle this year’s theme,” says Johan Glennmo, Chairman of the Board at Sigma Group.
A Commitment to Nurturing Future Tech Talent
The Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is part of Sigma’s initiative to spark interest in technology among young people. With a concerning decline in technological engagement at the secondary school level, the goal is to inspire middle school students to explore technology and innovation from an early age. By allowing students to work creatively on real-world challenges, Sigma hopes to pave the way for the engineers and technical experts of the future.
