Major investment in digitalization – Sigma Technology starts up 5 new companies

After a challenging period for the Swedish industry characterized by uncertainty during the corona-affected spring of 2020, several industries in the technology and IT sector are beginning to see a recovery. Large and medium-sized companies in the telecom, industrial, FinTech, and MedTech sectors invest heavily in digital transformation and smart automated solutions. Sigma Technology Group has grown strongly in digitalization and is meeting the increasing demand steadily. The company has quadrupled its turnover in the last seven years and passed 1 billion in turnover in 2019 with stable results. The growth journey continues; therefore, during the autumn of 2020 and winter of 2021, the company will start five new companies to strengthen its position on the market and ensure continued growth.

Sigma Technology Group, part of the Sigma Group, is a privately-owned global technology consulting company with operations in Sweden, Hungary, China, and Ukraine. The company offers cutting-edge expertise with expert consultants, offshore delivery, and development teams. Team deliveries constitute about 70% of the business volume and are carried out in their own premises. The company offers expertise and capacity in software development, embedded systems, product information, and digital solutions. Sigma Technology Group currently has almost 1,000 employees in addition to 1,100 employees in Ukraine and has sales of approximately SEK 1.1 billion. With the new investments, the company plans to grow 20% per year organically and reach approximately SEK 2 billion in sales by 2024.

“We have a constant dialogue with our customers and partners and see that several major international players are beginning to adapt their operations to the 'new normal.' We see an opportunity for the market to grow and therefore invest in the new areas to be ready when the market recovers. The new companies within Sigma Technology will complement our existing service portfolio and help us take new market shares,” says Johan Edlund, Vice President at Sigma Technology Group.

The first two new companies to join Sigma Technology Group will start operations already on October 1. A new company, Sigma Technology Transformation, will be established in Malmö, Skåne region, together with the new Vice President and Business Manager Nermin Biscevic.

“Sigma's entrepreneurial spirit, customer focus, and the ambition to always stay at the forefront of technology have been important recognition factors that I can easily identify myself with. The fact that Sigma Technology chooses to further strengthen its position in digitalization and digital transformation will help us meet the growing need existing on the market. My focus as Vice President and COO will be to build a company with an innovative and Agile spirit with the key offering of cutting-edge expertise in service design, software development, and digital transformation. Today more than ever, new methods and processes need to be introduced to bridge companies' technical strategy with their businesses and customers' needs,” says Nermin Biscevic, Vice President of Sigma Technology Transformation.

Nermin has substantial experience in digital transformation, strategy, and service design as well as the production of many digital services and products across the automotive industry, packaging sector, manufacturing industry, B2B (Business-to-Business) and B2C (Business-to-Consumer), as well as construction and real estate. Nermin comes most recently from Dfind IT and Publicis Sapient.

The second company, which is starting up at the same time, will focus on digital services, and primarily on data-driven decisions with data analytics, data visualization, artificial intelligence (AI), business intelligence (BI), and XR (VR, AR, and MR). The CEO of this new company will be Robert Åberg. Robert has a background from the telecom and automotive industries where he has had leading roles in R&D and IT. Robert has worked at Sigma Technology for 6 years and has actively driven the development of digital services in his previous position. The company will be based in Gothenburg but will be active throughout Sweden.

“Based on the increased demand for our digital services, we see that the labor market overall is recovering faster than expected after the COVID-19 outbreak. More and more companies recognize an increased need for data-driven decisions, which we have extensive experience in implementing for our customers. Our strength lies in creating new insights and services with the help of analysis and visualization of large amounts of data and software design,” says Robert Åberg, CEO of Sigma Technology Insights.

Another three new companies will start up beginning January 2021 in Stockholm and Oslo.
