UL Wire and Cable Laboratory in Jakarta is Designated as a Listed Conformity Assessment Body for ASEAN Member Countries

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Feb 12, 2018– UL’s wire and cable laboratory in Jakarta, Indonesia has been designated by National Standardization Agency (BSN) as a Listed Testing Laboratory under ASEAN Sectoral Mutual Recognition Agreement for Electrical and Electronic Equipment (ASEAN EE MRA) as a Conformity Assessment Body for ASEAN member countries. This designation is aligned with UL’s plan to provide a turnkey solution to wire and cable customers who strive to gain access to global markets. These turnkey solutions permit UL to manage the entire application process and deliver the desired certifications, marks and regulatory approvals upon successful product testing and factory inspection, streamlining the process for customers.

According to the ASEAN EE MRA, testing undertaken by UL’s laboratory in Jakarta for PVC insulated copper cable in accordance with IEC 60227-3, -4, and -5 will be recognized by the respective ASEAN Member countries. These countries include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

“This is an important step for UL to expand our local-for-local services to wire and cable customers for market access to ASEAN member countries,” said L.F. Lai, vice president and general manager of UL’s Wire and Cable Division. “Of equal importance is that this step will ultimately benefit the growth of the wire and cable industry in this region”.
