From Old to New: Raffles Hotels & Resorts Triumph at 2011 Travel Awards
London, 30 November – Monday night saw a string of travel awards ceremonies take place across London, with recognition for both the oldest and newest members of the Raffles Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
As the most recent addition to the Raffles family, Le Royal Monceau, Raffles Paris (which re-opened in late 2010 with brilliant interiors by Philippe Starck) was named ‘Best New Hotel’ at the Tatler Travel Awards 2011. Le Royal Monceau, Raffles Paris was credited for being ‘utterly original and yet all so smooth and stately’ and as a hotel that ‘beautifully breaks all the rules’.
Meanwhile the company’s original flagship, Raffles Hotel Singapore, proved that it still knows best, being announced as runner-up in the ‘Worldwide City Hotel’ category at the Sunday Times Travel Magazine Readers’ Awards 2011. Voted for by readers of the magazine, Raffles Hotel Singapore was described as ‘an iconic, bucket-list hotel’ – proving that the magic of the Raffles experience has nothing to do with age - and is truly timeless.
Diana Banks, VP Sales & Marketing for Raffles Hotels & Resorts commented, “Our hotels are all iconic - but that doesn’t mean that we stand still. These awards, for our 125 year old flagship, Raffles Hotel Singapore, and her smart new sister Le Royal Monceau, Raffles Paris, show how we are constantly moving with the times and adapting to the world around us.”
Full details of all the winners can be found in the Tatler Travel Guide 2012 and the January issue of The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.
