KONE Middle East takes its Next Leap

KONE recently held its marquee event, The Next Next Leap in Dubai, a city filled with as many high-rise buildings as the eye can see. Previous Next Leap events were held in high-rise cities like Shanghai, London and Chicago.

Held on Sunday May 10th, the Next Leap activities began in the morning with a joint media event between KONE and Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), the Kingdom Tower’s owner and developer. Both parties jointly announced to a room filled with journalists that KONE had arrived at the Kingdom Tower construction site for the start of the company’s pre-installation activities.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted towards a customer event where guests joined us to listen to engaging presentations on high-rise technology, People Flow Intelligence solutions as well as a Kingdom Tower project update by JEC’s CEO, Mounib Hammoud. Following the presentations, the participants were invited to experience for themselves the weight difference between KONE UltraRope™ and conventional steel ropes and to try some of KONE’s latest access control solutions such as the KONE Turnstile and KONE’s Destination Control System.

The entire Next Leap event was conveniently planned to coincide with the Dubai Smart Skyscraper Summit which started on the following day. Over 300 high-rise experts attended the two-day event which featured topical presentations on various themes affecting the development of high-rise buildings. KONE’s Head of Technology for Major Projects, Johannes de Jong, gave an overview of KONE’s latest People Flow Intelligence solutions, more specifically on how Access & Destination control systems can greatly improve a high-rise building’s people flow.
