White & Case assisted when Svenska Kraftnät and PSE Operator acquired HVDC link SwePol Link
Swedish National Grid (Svenska Kraftnät) and the Polish national grid company PSE Operator have acquired SwePol Link, the international HVDC link between Sweden and Poland.
Approximately one year ago, the process started to dissolve the existing package of agreements and establish a system where the interconnector and converter stations are directly owned by the Swedish and Polish system operators. The process has now been completed and the acquisition results in a simplified ownership structure. All market players will continue to have access to the infrastructure on equal terms according to the principles of an open market. The capacity of the link is 600 MW and the link is open to the market since December 2010.
White & Case assisted in the reconstruction of the HVDC link SwePol Link. The matter included the acquisition of all SwePol Link assets by Svenska Kraftnät and by PSE Operator, respectively, all in accordance with the EU Third Package initiative.
