The major problems include monitors that do not reach their full resolution or a decent refresh rate or computers that do not charge at full speed. And not to mention the aesthetics. Getting 4K resolution and 60Hz simultaneously on an external monitor from a multi USB-C adapter has never been heard of before.

How it works

Using the Display Port 1.4 protocol found on all modern Macs and many new Windows-based computers, it can deliver the bandwidth that is needed to solve the task.

If you connect one of the two USB-C connectors to a Mac there will be support for one external monitor with 4K 60Hz. Connecting both connectors enables you to use two external screens with 4K 60Hz at the same time. However, this does not apply to Macs with Apple Silicon M1 chips that currently only support an external monitor.

For Windows computers, one only needs to use one of the USB-C connectors, but the computer must support DisplayPort 1.4 with so-called ALT-Mode. If it does not the resolution will be 1080p.
