Cykelvasan 90 broadcast live in four countries in 2024

On Saturday, August 10, the 16th edition of Cykelvasan 90 will take place. Sveriges Television will broadcast the race live from start to finish, just like the winter Vasaloppet – and this year, Cykelvasan 90, the largest mountain bike race in the Nordics, will also be broadcast in Norway, Denmark, and Finland. National MTB teams from these three countries will be present to compete for victory, honour, and prize money in both the women's and men's classes.

Sveriges Television has been broadcasting Cykelvasan 90 live since 2022, and the broadcast agreement extends until 2028. The broadcast on August 10 will start at 07:25, with the women's start at 07:30 and the men's start at 08:15. The broadcast will continue until approximately 11:30.

In Norway, Cykelvasan will be broadcast live by Amedia, and in Denmark, it will be broadcast by the sports channel Sport Live once again.
"We already cover the Danish Shimano MTB League on Sport Live, so for us it's natural to also be involved when the Danish cyclists compete against the national teams from Sweden, Norway and Finland. Last year, we broadcast Cykelvasan 90 for the first time on Danish television, and we are very much looking forward to showing the race again this year," says Flemming Kjellerup, CEO of Sport Live.

New this year, Cykelvasan will also be broadcast in Finland. It will be shown on MTV Katsomo+Live and possibly also on MTV Urheilu.
"We are delighted that Cykelvasan will be broadcast live not only in Sweden but also in Finland, Norway, and Denmark. This is an important step in further establishing the race, which is the largest MTB race in the Nordics, with an international audience. We hope it will inspire more people to participate in Cykelvasan and our other races. We look forward to crowning the winners of Cykelvasan live and continuing to promote cycling, running, and skiing for current and future generations. Vasaloppet is a fantastic tradition that attracts participants from all over the world, and it's exciting to see the events reaching a wider audience," says Erika Christensson, marketing manager at Vasaloppet.

The total prize money for Cykelvasan 90 this year is 288,000 SEK. The winners will receive a wreath and 40,000 SEK, and the top ten women and men will all be rewarded. Additionally, sprint prizes (3,000 SEK) will be awarded to the first woman and man to cycle past the classic Vasaloppet checkpoints in Smågan, Mångsbodarna, Risberg, Oxberg, Hökberg, and Eldris. Mountain prizes (5,000 SEK) will be awarded to the first woman and man to reach the checkpoint in Evertsberg.

Last year’s winners, Amanda Bohlin from Sweden and Kristian Klevgård from Norway, are both registered.

Cykelvasan 90 will also be broadcast live on Vasaloppet's own streaming service, Vasaloppet.TV.
