Streaming service SkyShowtime becomes Stockholm International Film Festival’s Official Partner and the host of the prestigious ”SkyShowtime Rising Star Award”

SkyShowtime enters as the Official Streaming Partner of the Stockholm Film Festival while also hosting the "SkyShowtime Rising Star Award" - the prize that highlights tomorrow's stars. The Stockholm Film Festival is delighted to have SkyShowtime as the host of the 'SkyShowtime Rising Star Award' - the prize that puts the spotlight on tomorrow's young talents.

As Official Streaming Partner SkyShowtime will be part of Nordics largest Drive-in Cinema, Europe's biggest Outdoor Cinema, and at the 34th edition of Stockholm International Film Festival. SkyShowtime will be co-hosting Stockholm International Film Festival's ”industry days” and also have their own special screenings.

SkyShowtime Regional General Manager for Northern Europe Henriette Skov, speaking on behalf of SkyShowtime, said: “It’s truly a pleasure for us to partner up with one of the leading film festivals in Europe. We both share the passion for bringing unique stories and new voices to a large audience. The Stockholm International Film Festival is the perfect match for SkyShowtime.”

Stockholm International Film Festival takes place during two festival weeks from November 8 - 19th. But already this summer one will be able to experience this exciting partnership with SkyShowtime’s Streaming Lounge at the Sommarbio.

We are very excited to have SkyShowtime hosting the important ”SkyShowtime Rising StarAward”, where we together will present the next generation of upcoming stars in the business. An inspiring partnership to work closely together and strengthening the festival's position as one of the leading film festivals in Europe." says Magnus Larsson, Head of Marketing at Stockholm International Film Festival

The winner of the 'SkyShowtime Rising Star Award' will be announced during the Stockholm Film Festival's Award Ceremony in November 2023.

The Rising Star Award was founded in 2008 with the goal of highlighting young actors who have delivered outstanding performances in film and television throughout the year and have the potential to become tomorrow's big stars. The purpose of the award is to early on showcase Swedish talents in their careers and invite them to the Stockholm Film Festival, where they have the opportunity to network within the film industry. The winner also receives a trip to the Cannes Film Festival the following year, where they can meet international industry professionals and attend Red Carpet screenings. Among the prize winners and nominees are notable names such as Alicia Vikander, Joel Kinnaman, Rebecca Ferguson, Alba August, Edvin Ryding, Lancelot Ncube, and most recently, the acclaimed actor Sara Shirpey.
