Stockholm International Film Festival launches a new short film award - Nikon Short Film Awards

Stockholm International Film Festival kick-starts this summer by launching a new short film award together with Nikon. The award is founded to encourage filmmakers all over Europe to use their creativity and imagination to create the best possible short film with a maximum of 60 seconds. The winning entry will be shown at the festival and the winner will also receive a Nikon Z Series Mirrorless Camera and Lens of their choice to encourage the creation of the next short film.

The jury is led by Swedish Hollywood director Daniel Espinosa, who together with actress Gizem Erdogan and artist and actress Alba August, form the official jury. In addition to the Nikon Z Series Mirrorless Camera and Lens, the winner also receives professional guidance from an established Swedish filmmaker.

"It is very exciting and honourable to lead the jury for SIFF's new short film award, Nikon Short Film Awards. We look forward to watching all the films and seeing how the young filmmakers around Europe will contribute to this challenge. Maybe we'll have the next star director among the contestants", says Daniel Espinosa, President of the Jury Nikon Short Film Awards.

Nikon has a long history of encouraging young creators all over the world and together with Stockholm International Film Festival, they are now doing one of their biggest efforts ever to reach out to filmmakers and creators all around Europe to take on this challenge.

We are delighted to be the official camera partner for the Stockholm International Film Festival and to be presenting the Nikon Short Film Awards in 2022. This partnership and award is an expression of our investment in the moving image and our admiration for up and coming filmmakers. We are proud to support this community, not just with powerful video products but also the recognition this award gives their talent” says Julian Harvie, Head of Marketing at Nikon UK/Nordics.
