A very bright future for Swedish table tennis – STIGA Sports and the Swedish Table Tennis Association extend their longstanding cooperation

STIGA Sports AB and the Swedish Table Tennis Association (SBTF) have agreed to extend their cooperation. The new agreement has a clear focus: to expand the Swedish table tennis network.

STIGA Sports, based in Eskilstuna, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of table tennis products. In recent years, it has experienced great expansion in many parts of the world, not least in China. The company has also been SBTF's main partner for many years.

"We're both proud and pleased to have come to this agreement, which will strengthen us in several respects. SBTF and STIGA Sports make for a very strong partnership. Sweden has become one of the leading nations in the world of table tennis in recent years. Several elements lie behind the success: national team quality, the country's role as an organiser of international events, and its influence as a global voice for the sport. And STIGA Sports has played a large part in this rise to the top. We're now further strengthening our ties and broadening the scope of our agreement. It's incredibly exciting," says Petra Sörling, Chairperson of SBTF.

The agreement provides a strong incentive for both parties to work together to expand the Swedish table tennis network. Development is an important factor for both STIGA Sports and SBTF, which is why a major investment is being planned, highlighting all the advantages of table tennis.

"Table tennis is a sport that everyone can play regardless of the conditions. And it can be played almost anywhere. This is a very important part of the agreement. It wasn't so long ago that table tennis tables were a common feature in garages, public spaces, schools and recreation centres. We're now noticing that the trend is picking up again, which is why we're keen to step in. It feels fantastic that we've extended our longstanding partnership with SBTF, which not only boosts exposure but also adds value. We're about to embark on a very exciting journey together," says Andreas Zandrén, CEO of STIGA Sports.

SBTF's chairperson is equally enthusiastic about the development.

"It falls in line with Sweden's table tennis vision for the future. We need to be more accessible to the general public, which is where we're seeing huge growth. Being able to develop this together with our main partner feels spot on. For us, it's important to have a development-focused partner, and STIGA Sports has an impressively innovate approach in a tough market. I'm convinced that the future of Swedish table tennis is very bright," concludes Petra Sörling.
