A global connection
New designers in www.SLOWFASHIONhouse.com
Among other spring news in SLOWFASHIONhouse you find:
Susanne Hamari a young Finnish designer who runs the company THINK TODAY. She has the aim to give new life to the endless flow of reusable recycled material. With a sense of humor she has made underlays for the dining table out of leftover floor tree imitation laminate, so funny and so beautiful.
And….
Finnish Nadia who has picked a small selection of double woven bread baskets in birch bark made by Finnish artisans for SLOWDESIGNhouse. In Finland as well as in Russia there is a huge tradition of birch bark weaving that dates back for 10 centuries.
In 2008, Rigetta Klint decided to abandon the traditional way of thinking about fashion retailing and marketing. A physical shop was too geographically limited and the essence of her view on fashion was to some extent lost. The solution was to create a virtual universe, a limitless platform where different expressions could meet with the possibility to communicate globally. The intent was not to open just another web shop; rather it must be something more communicative and outreaching. From this idea, SLOWFASHIONhouse was born and launched in August 2008. With SLOWFASHIONhouse, Rigetta Klint created an enchanting virtual department store where every detail was the result of careful consideration. But more importantly, the department store was a way of inviting a global audience to take part in an interactive forum and the ideals of slow fashion and slow design. Using only the ones and zeroes of the computer age, something vivid and universal was created. Since the opening, SLOWFASHIONhouse has grown and now is a collaborative platform of high quality brands all sharing the same idea – to provide slow, lasting, beautiful design to a global audience in an ongoing dialogue.
