Oulu, the Capital of Northern Scandinavia, is present in the Capital of Scandinavia, Stockholm, throughout the day of Kustaa Adolf of Sweden, 6th of November. The day is a general flag day according to the Finnish calendar, celebrating Finnish Swedish heritage.

Oulu, the Capital of Northern Scandinavia, is organizing an event for networking, sales promotion and investment in Stockholm in order to promote Oulu-based expertise in the Nordic countries. The event will focus especially on Oulu's ICT expertise, OuluHealth and the Future Hospital project. The aim of the event is to promote the internationalization of Oulu-based companies, market international investment opportunities, facilitate the integration of companies into Oulu’s ecosystem and promote the internationalization of participating companies, help them find partners and generate sales.
A fast and cheap flight connection operating directly between Oulu and Stockholm promotes the eco-system and cooperation of companies in Oulu and in Stockholm. SAS operates directly from Oulu to Stockholm twice a day.
The media is warmly welcome to participate in the event or to interview our experts about the topics concerning the theme.  The event is free of charge.

Future hospitals and Digital Services – Oulu calls for cooperation
 
Oulu, the Capital of Northern Scandinavia, is organizing an event for networking, sales promotion and investment in Stockholm in order to promote Oulu-based expertise in the Nordic countries. The event will focus especially on Oulu's ICT expertise, OuluHealth and the Future Hospital project. The aim of the event is to promote the internationalization of Oulu-based companies, market international investment opportunities, facilitate the integration of companies into Oulu’s ecosystem and promote the internationalization of participating companies, help them find partners and generate sales.
 
The renovation of hospitals is a billion-euro business in Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
For example in Finland, the cities of Oulu, Helsinki, Kuopio, Turku and Jyväskylä are planning to renovate their current hospitals. In Jyväskylä, the central hospital is to be completely rebuilt from the ground up. In Oulu, the Northern Ostrobothnia Hospital District will be investing EUR 500 million into the renovation of hospital infrastructure and health care systems in the coming years.
 
Oulu, Capital of Northern Scandinavia, will be showcasing its expertise in the industry in Stockholm on November 6, 2013 in order to promote Oulu-based expertise in the Nordic countries. The role of ICT in Oulu is considered a central factor in the renovation and improvement of hospitals. One of the central factors in these renovations is wireless solutions, which is an area in which Oulu possesses world-leading expertise.
 
The event will include several guest speakers who will discuss the ongoing reform of the health care system in Finland. From the media’s perspective, the four most interesting speakers will be Architect Teemu Kurkela from Aalto University, New Hospital Project Manager Jorma Teittinen from the Central Finland Health Care District, Healthcare Industry Leader Stefan Olsen from IBM and Chief Administrative Physician Juha Korpelainen from OYS - Oulu University Hospital.
 
Teemu Kurkela will be discussing the new hospital models developed in Finland, while Jorma Teittinen will illustrate how completely new hospitals are designed and built. Meanwhile, IBM’s Stefan Olsen will show delegates what it really means to update all the IT systems of a hospital under renovation. Chief Administrative Physician Juha Korpelainen will talk about the EUR 500 million plans to renovate Oulu University Hospital, one of the largest hospital renovation projects ever undertaken in the Nordic countries. The renovation process is already underway and includes an extensive remodeling of the hospital’s health care systems.
 
One of the most important operators involved in the development of the Future Hospital is the OuluHealth cluster, which includes health technology startups that utilize new ICT innovations. Approximately half of the hundreds of startups based in Oulu are already focusing on the health care sector. This expertise is utilized in cooperation with companies, the public sector, the Oulu University Hospital, the Oulu Innovation Alliance’s CHT and CIE development centers.
Two direct flights are operating from Oulu to Stockholm daily by Scandinavia's leading airlines SAS.
