Sanofi Diabetes supports “Start Right, Eat Right” nutritional initiative

Sanofi Diabetes is funding “Start Right, Eat Right”, a public nutrition initiative taking place in Berlin, Germany, October 2^nd - October 5^th 2012. This event coincides with the 48^th Annual Meeting of the European Association of the Study of Diabetes (EASD).

Professor Andreas Pfeiffer, Professor of the Charité University of Berlin and Head of the department of Clinical Nutrition at the German Institute of Human Nutrition, a Leibniz Institute, is supporting the initiative with a selection of “Quick tips for healthy living,” that will be distributed via a leaflet and accompanied by a message marked apple, which encourages healthy eating and good nutrition.

More than 18,000 leaflets and apples will be distributed to attendees of the EASD Meeting as well as to the general public within the city centre of Berlin. Distribution areas include Potsdamer Platz (Tuesday October 2^nd, 8:00 am - 12:00 noon), Brandenburg Gate (Wednesday October 3^rd, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm), and Deutsche Bahn Central Station (Hauptbahnhof, Thursday October 4^th, 8:00 am - 12:00 noon).

Professor Pfeiffer’s tips include practical advice on diet and exercise and are designed to encourage individuals to recognize the importance of a healthy lifestyle in disease prevention. He highlights simple ways to easily adopt new habits in good nutrition as well as providing advice on what should be included in a healthy lifestyle and how to maintain a healthy weight.
