RUGGED TECH WINNER OF DESIGN S IN MODE CATEGORY
Stockholm, SWEDEN, November 25th 2016 – Rugged Tech, a project by Stockholm-based designer shoe brand Reschia, is the winner in the Mode category of Design S, awarded by Svensk Form during the Design S Galan, held at Berns, Stockholm on Wednesday, November 23rd 2016. The Rugged Tech was also runner-up in the People’s Choice category.
First developed by Reschia during Swedish Fashion Council initiative Fashaton, the Rugged Tech mixes the features of wearable-tech and the brand’s distinctive design. The result is a masterful combination of high fashion and advanced technology. Features such as tracking, temperature regulation dependent on weather conditions and smartphone integration allow for multiple uses by different user groups. For example, the shoes can guide the wearer around the city, a feature that can be useful for visually impaired users.
Reschia Founder and Creative Director Andrea Reschia accepted the prize on stage: “I feel immensely happy to win the most prestigious award in the field of Swedish design, presenting an innovative project like the Rugged Tech” adding “As a designer, it was a real challenge for me to start working with wearables and apply technology to fashion products”.
