Kvasir® launches a unique search engine for children - Family-friendly Picsearch is selected by Kvasir Junior

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, September 30, 2008 - The Eniro owned brand Kvasir® launches a unique search engine for children in Norway, Kvasir Junior. The search engine offers children a limited and quality-assured universe where they can learn to search the Internet in a safe manner. The image search service is powered by Picsearch.

"The Internet represents a fantastic opportunity for children and young people, but it also includes risks. We believe that there is a strong need for a safe and family-friendly site when introducing children to the Internet", says Ingrid Støver Jensen, Head of Product at Kvasir.

Kvasir Junior's target group is children in the ages of 6 till 12 years, and it has been tested by pupils and teachers at several elementary schools. The feedback from the schools have been very valuable in developing the site.

"We have been missing a limited universe in which pupils can learn to use the Internet in a safe manner," says Kine Næss, digital tutor and subject teacher for Kastellet School in Oslo. "We use Kvasir Junior to teach pupils in the first grade to search the Internet, before they move onto the Internet on their own when they get older. We also know this is also a long-awaited safety for the parents."

Visual imagery is a key aspect of Kvasir Junior and an independent testing agency has shown that the illustrations in visual design are important to how children use and understand search engines. Figures and images also illustrates how to find what one is looking for.

"We are delighted that the family friendly service that the Picsearch advanced filters deliver, has been selected to provide this search engine", says Robert Risberg, CEO of Picsearch.
