Back to the future: Launching our podcast on cassette tape

Swedish car magazine Klassiker is launching a special episode of popular podcast ”Studio Klassiker” in a surprisingly analog format.

You've probably heard of the boom in vinyl sales during the last decade. Now, there are signs of a similar boom in sales of cassette tapes.

To make sure our popular, bi-weekly podcast ”Studio Klassiker” can be heard not only in smartphones and modern cars, but also in classic cars and retro-styled boomboxes from the 1980s, we are now launching a special episode of our podcast on cassette tape.

”Actually, it might not be as crazy as it seems”, says Klassiker editor-in-chief Carl Legelius. ”Our podcast has become a regular habit for fans of all kinds of classic cars and we're attracting new listeners for each episode. Of course, they would also like to listen in their classic cars now that the season has arrived.”

The special episode consists of some of the most popular and loved items from earlier episodes, already published in digital format. We're discussing our first cars, arguing about textile upholstery compared to leather, our dream garages and the so-called ”Ur-Saab”.

Volume 1 of ”Studio Klassiker on cassette” can be ordered for SEK 199 (€20/£17/$24) in our web shop or, for readers of the magazine, by sending in a delightfully analog form by mail.

”Unfortunately, we don't yet accept orders by fax”, says Carl Legelius, adding that ”retrofying” the podcast already proves popular among the listeners of the podcast and that people unsure of how to handle a cassette tape can view instructions on video.

”This is a must for any owner of a classic car. We're supercharging the past into the future”, says Erik Söderholm, digital editor of Swedish publishing house OK-Förlaget, owner of Klassiker magazine.
