NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEWLY FORMED SWEDISH CHAPTER

Stockholm, Swe - The National Hockey League Alumni Association (NHLAA) announced today, March 23rd, 2024,the formation of a new Swedish NHL Alumni Chapter. This newly formed chapter will be organized by proud Swedish-born NHL Alumni members Mikael Samuelsson (13-year NHL career, 2008 Stanley Cup Champion) and Mattias Norström (14-year NHL career, 900+ NHL Games Played) and marks the organization’s first country-specific chapter outside of North America.

NHLAA's by-laws now include Sweden as the 33rd chapter, recognizing Sweden's significant contribution with over 100 players in a single NHL season and 10% of active players. This move addresses the trend of Swedish players returning post-career by providing a local platform for their specific needs and resources for health, wellness, and transition. It aims to foster camaraderie among Swedish NHL Alumni and promote hockey through international initiatives.
