This seminar focuses on ways forward to reduce inappropriate use of antibiotics in animal production. Cooperation built on responsibility and transparency between different sectors in society – business, retailers, authorities, policy and science, is needed. And also, structural changes in farming systems. Farmers as well as consumers must be offered increased knowledge and skills.
All forms of malnutrition lead to poorer health. World hunger is increasing, biodiversity is in crisis, shortages of fresh water are continuing, as is the depletion of the world’s soils, and the world’s natural resources are being consumed at an unsustainable rate: Professor Jennifer Clapp, Global Food Security, Univ of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, is newly elected international fellow to KSLA.
This seminar will present the challenges and discuss the solutions for global foods security with examples from academia, NGOs, and business. The overall purpose is to stress the importance of multisector cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of zero hunger.
